Craving a super flavorful burger in Charleston? We’re not talking about measly and flat fast food burgers—we’re talking burgers with thick, in-house-ground meat, tasty fixings, and a toasted bun.

Are you salivating yet? If so, make your way to one of these restaurants for the BEST burgers in town:

Sesame Burgers and Beer: Not only does Sesame make mean beef, turkey, and black bean burgers, but they are also environmentally and health conscious. Offering hormone free, pasture raised angus beef burgers, and local food vendors for vegetables and other menu items, Sesame Burgers and Beer makes sure that visitors and our local economy, alike, are fed well!

Sesame offers a tremendous selection of tasty burger toppings, including pimento cheese, fig and bacon jam, goat cheese spread, homemade BBQ sauce, coleslaw, and SO much more.

If you’re not in the mood for a burger, don’t fret! They have a variety of items to choose from including salads, sandwiches, and starters (including fried pickles and BBQ pork nachos . . . ).

Leaf Café + Bar: Although Leaf Cafe + Bar doesn’t have the burger selection that Sesame does, the burger that they do feature is amazing—and so are the parmesan truffle fries that accompany it! Sides for the burger also include sweet potato fries, frickles (which are fried pickles—they are AMAZING), house-made coleslaw, roasted beets, or a side salad.

The Leaf burger is always cooked just right and comes topped with vine-ripe tomato, red onions, pickle, and greens, and you have the option of adding pimento, cheddar, manchego, or feta cheese, as well as bacon.

Poe’s Tavern: Located on the quaint Sullivan’s Island, Poe’s is a favorite among locals, as well as visitors. It’s difficult to get a seat here, especially in the summer, so make sure you arrive early for lunch!

The Tavern is adorned with Edgar Allen Poe’s picture and poems, and the menu items are even inspired by this poet’s writings and life. It’s truly a unique ambiance that is a must-visit.

The food at Poe’s Tavern is EXCELLENT, as well. From juicy burgers that are cooked to your liking, chicken sandwiches, fantastic chili, fresh fish tacos, and huge salads, you’re sure to find something that you love here.

Halls Chophouse: For one of the best burgers in town, visit the fine dining establishment, Halls Chophouse on King Street in downtown Charleston. This elegant restaurant KNOWS their beef.

The Halls Chophouse burger is 10oz. and comes served with some of the best parmesan truffle fries in town. Note that the burger is only served at the bar on the bar menu.
