Charleston Takes Top Spot as Friendliest City

charleston carriage tourWe can’t help being nice, y’all. And who wouldn’t be friendly and welcoming when living in a gorgeous city like Charleston?

For the second year in a row, Charleston took the top spot in the list of Friendliest Cities in the U.S. as voted by Conde Nast Traveler readers. Four of the top five cities are Southern, giving proof to the concept of “Southern hospitality.”

According to the Readers’ Choice Survey, visitors to Charleston praised the city’s hospitality so much that they “would consider living there full time.” (Our swelling population is proof!)

The magazine also noted:

The historic town earned accolades for its blend of “undervalued local culture,” history, and natural beauty, as well as the “incredible food” and Charleston City Market, with its boutiques and art galleries. In short, Charleston is the total package, landing it atop the list for the second year in a row.

Here are the other cities making the top 10 list:

10. Asheville, N.C.

9. Nashville, Tenn.

8. Key West, Fla.

7. Jackson, Wyo.

6. Fort Worth, Texas,
