Below are spotlights on some of our favorite wedding venues in Charleston:
Cotton Docks at Boone Hall Plantation
Type of venue: Barn-like, rustic structure on Charleston’s (arguably) most beautiful plantation, featuring a dock that goes out onto Boone Hall Creek, a patio, and fireplace.
What we love about it: Aside from the fact that the famous couple Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds got married here, Boone Hall Plantation is one of the South’s most stunning attractions. As you enter the property, you embark on a quaint dirt road that travels beneath romantic, canopying live oak trees, drizzled with dangling Spanish moss. There’s arguably no other plantation entrance that is more stunning!
The venue is a wooden structure that can accommodate both a ceremony and a reception and allows for the bride and groom to create their completely customized dream wedding. The interior is rustic and romantic, positioning itself as the perfect place to host a traditional Lowcountry wedding.
The details: The venue can hold 150 people for a seated event + dance floor, 175 – 200 for a seated event (without dance floor), and 300 people for a non-seated event without dance floor. Many brides choose to have their wedding ceremonies on the dock that leads out into the Boone Hall Creek, which can hold up to 100 chairs. The bride and groom may also choose to host their ceremony on the front lawn or back lawn of the plantation and host the reception at the Cotton Docks.
Boone Hall Plantation is set in the ideal location of Mount Pleasant—just a 20-minute drive from downtown Charleston; therefore, guests can stay downtown or in quaint Mount Pleasant.

Daniel Island Club
Type of venue: Elegant country club atmosphere with a ballroom to host the reception. Located on the waterways of the charming Daniel Island.
The venue allows guests to enjoy the outdoors and indoors during the event. The ceremony can be hosted on the lush green lawn behind the club; cocktail hour and bocce ball can then be enjoyed while the bride and groom have their photos taken. The reception is then taken into the grand ballroom where guests can enjoy delectable cuisine, prepared by the club’s renowned chefs.
If guests arrive early to the Charleston area, Daniel Island Club can provide discounted rates for golf (the price is usually $400 to play a round of golf, but as a guest, you can enjoy a tremendous deal!).
In terms of catering, the bride and groom don’t need to worry about hiring a separate caterer because Daniel Island Club is equipped with in-house catering services—their expert pastry chef can even create your dream wedding cake for the occasion!
