Special Weeks Celebrate Charleston Food, Fun

craft beerIt’s a week of, well, weeks here in Charleston. Whether you like eating, watersports or enjoying an icy cold beer, you’re in luck.

Charleston Restaurant Week: Through Sept. 14, more than 140 restaurants around Charleston offer specially priced menus. From burgers to seafood, visitors and locals love the opportunity to try new restaurants, sample a new dish and enjoy Charleston’s amazing culinary scene. Sponsored by the Greater Charleston Restaurant Association, this event is a food lover’s dream. And the best part is they do it again in January. Check out the full list of participating restaurants and featured menus.

Charleston Beer Week: From brewer to bartender and from keg to glass, Charleston Beer Week is all about the local beer scene. The craft brew community has exploded here in Charleston with local breweries popping up all over town. From Sept. 7-13, you have plenty of opportunities to raise a glass in honor of Charleston’s beer bonanza. Specials beer dinners and events are taking place all week; check out the full schedule of events.

And speaking of beer, sign up for one of our Craft Beer Cruises on Sept. 26 or Oct. 24 on the Carolina Queen. Sample beers from Holy City Brewing, Founders Brewing Co., Brooklyn Brewery, Oskar Blues Brewery and Terrapin Beer Co. while cruising the Charleston harbor.

Work off all that great food and beer during Charleston Watersports Week. Through Sept. 14, this series of events and activities showcases one of Charleston’s best features – the water. There are paddleboarding races, recreational activities and lessons, tours and cruises. Check out the Watersports EXPO Sept. 12-14 at Charleston Maritime Center.

So, there’s no excuse to not get out and have fun around Charleston!
