Upcoming Charleston Events & Festivals 2013

boone hall plantationIf you ever want someone to visit Charleston with you (or better yet, move to Charleston), just rattle off a few of our most celebrated events and festivals!

Below are some of the best, upcoming Charleston events and festivals, happening in early 2013:

Boone Hall Plantation Oyster Roast: One of our absolute all-time favorite events of the year is the Boone Hall Plantation Oyster Roast, which actually happens this weekend (Whoop! Whoop!).  With dozens of food stands, represented by Charleston’s most acclaimed restaurants, and fantastic oysters (80,000 lbs. worth to be exact) that are cooked to perfection, live music, contests, and more, it’s no wonder the Boone Hall Oyster Roast is considered the best oyster roast in the world (it’s the biggest, too!).

Some of the main attraction at the festival will be oyster-shucking contests, oyster eating contents, live music, food trucks, restaurants, and a Children’s Play Area.

And for those of you who (gasp) don’t like oysters, there are PLENTY of other things to eat from the restaurants at the event!

Event Details: Sunday, January 27, 2013 from 10:30am – 5pm at Boone Hall Plantation in Mount Pleasant

*NOTE: Traffic and parking can get pretty crazy and cause serious delays, so get there as early as you can!

South Eastern Wildlife Exposition (SEWE): A fantastic event for wildlife and hunting enthusiasts, SEWE is a 3-day event that happens across the Charleston area at various venues, and showcases nature art, wildlife and wildlife experts, environmental organizations, and conservation research initiatives. 2013 marks SEWE’s 30th year in South Carolina and attracts thousands of individuals from around the nation. There will be almost 300 exhibitors at the exposition, as well as individual events, including a Ducks Unlimited Oyster Roast, a Buffalo Trace Bourbon Tasting, an SCWA Sportsman’s Ball, Birds of Prey Flight Demonstrations, and SO much more.

Event Details: February 15 – 17, 2013

BB&T Charleston Wine + Food Festival: For all you food and wine lovers out there (let’s be honest, who doesn’t love food and wine?), the annual Charleston Wine + Food Festival is the perfect way to treat your taste buds to the ultimate party.

This four-day festival, which takes place around the Charleston area at different venues, allows guests to explore the rich flavors of Lowcountry cuisine, as well as the various wines from around the world. The festival is comprised of more than 80 events, many of which feature celebrity chefs, authors, wine connoisseurs, and more.

If you haven’t gotten your tickets yet for the Charleston Wine + Food Festival, I suggest you do so soon as many of the events have already sold out!
