5 New Charleston Restaurants to Try

Charleston, South Carolina is home to some of the best cuisine the south has to offer. New restaurants are popping up all over the peninsula and many entrepreneurs are striving to bring southern hospitality together with a modern, fresh feel. Here are 5 new Charleston restaurants to check out next time you’re in the Lowcountry!

Parcel 32

Parcel 32 serves up fare focused on combining Carolina’s traditional cuisine with a Carribean twist. The benne and herb grilled country pork chop is just one of the dishes that tie these cultures together uniquely with respect to the Lowcountry’s history. There is much to experience at Parcel 32, from drinks at the parlour to bar bites and brunch, there’s something for everyone!

Uptown Social

This approachable, friendly bar opened up in April of 2018. Uptown Social can be found strolling through upper King St in downtown Charleston. It brings a sports-centric vibe with 50 tvs and projectors. You can float between four different bars and a rooftop deck, which regularly hosts live music! It’s a great place to grab some bar food and brews with friends and family.

The Establishment

This new seafood restaurant on Broad St. opened in May of 2018. The building itself was established in 1791, definitely earning them the title, The Establishment. A modern space allowing for 140 seats capitalizes on southern seafood and cultural cuisine. Check out their website to learn more about the history of the building!


A sleek new restaurant with a clean design taking on modern American fare. Tradd’s offers lunch, brunch, and dinner as well as a daily happy hour from 4 pm – 6 pm! It has been deemed one of the “Biggest Dining Surprises of 2018” by Charleston Eater food critics and should be on anyone’s radar that’s searching for new spots.  


Renzo serves up wood-fired pizza and all-natural wine selections. It opened in May of 2018 and is found downtown Charleston on Huger St. These Detroit-style pizzas are making their way with a rustic cosmopolitan atmosphere to accompany them. You can find an online tour of the establishment here.
