It seems as if a new restaurant opens in the Charleston area almost daily. Whether you want seafood, Italian, French, a juicy burger and a beer or some fried chicken and waffles, Charleston is your place.
Visitors (and locals) eat their way through Charleston and then walk off the added calories with a jaunt down King Street or along the Battery. It’s the perfect vacation.
As Charleston’s reputation as a culinary destination has flourished, local restaurants, chefs and unique menu items appear regularly in national newspaper and magazines and on food blogs and websites.
Just this month Zagat called out the “11 Hottest Restaurants in Charleston,” giving a nod to some classic Charleston eateries like Hominy Grill and FIG but also highlighting several newer restaurants and those off the beaten path.
A couple favorites include Nigel’s Good Food in North Charleston, which some serious Southern soul food. A favorite burger joint was included on the list: Sesame Burgers & Beer with its array of burgers and seriously good sweet potato fries.
